What HERE Routing API (your key) is for

HERE Routing API (your key) lets an AI assistant read your own HERE Routing data through the HERE Routing API with a key you supply (HERE API key). Read-only: 7 tools (calculate_car_route, calculate_truck_route, calculate_pedestrian_route, calculate_bicycle_route, calculate_scooter_route, get_route_by_handle, get_service_version). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to router.hereapi.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by HERE Routing. HERE Routing and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How long does it take to drive from latitude 52.5308, longitude 13.3847 to 52.5219, 13.4132?"
  • "What truck route fits a 12 tonne, 4 m high truck from 52.5308,13.3847 to 52.5219,13.4132?"
  • "How long does it take to walk from 52.5308,13.3847 to 52.5219,13.4132?"
  • "How long does it take to cycle from 52.5308,13.3847 to 52.5219,13.4132?"
  • "Route a scooter from 52.5308,13.3847 to 52.5219,13.4132"
  • "Show the route for handle ABC123 again"

What it does

  • calculate_car_route: Calculate a car route between two coordinates with traffic-aware duration, length and sections; returns the provider's JSON.
  • calculate_truck_route: Calculate a truck route between two coordinates that respects the vehicle size and weight given (gross weight in kg, height, width, length in cm); returns the provider's JSON.
  • calculate_pedestrian_route: Calculate a walking route between two coordinates with duration and length; returns the provider's JSON.
  • calculate_bicycle_route: Calculate a bicycle route between two coordinates with duration and length (beta mode in the provider's docs); returns the provider's JSON.
  • calculate_scooter_route: Calculate a scooter route between two coordinates with duration and length; returns the provider's JSON.
  • get_route_by_handle: Decode a route from a route handle returned earlier (request return=routeHandle); handles can expire, so recalculate when it fails.
  • get_service_version: Show the Routing API version, service version and map data versions in use.

BYOK key

You bring your own HERE Routing HERE API key (https://platform.here.com/admin/apps). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to router.hereapi.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Notices

HERE platform terms limit storing results outside the platform (30 days) and serving one request to many end users.

Data sources

Live from the HERE Routing API (router.hereapi.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.here.com/routing/docs/readme. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by HERE Routing. HERE Routing and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your HERE Routing account.
