What HERE Traffic API (your key) is for

HERE Traffic API (your key) lets an AI assistant read your own HERE Traffic data through the HERE Traffic API with a key you supply (HERE API key). Read-only: 5 tools (get_traffic_flow, list_traffic_incidents, get_traffic_incident, get_service_version, get_service_health). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to data.traffic.hereapi.com. HERE Traffic and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How congested are the roads within 5 km of central Berlin right now?"
  • "Are there road closures or accidents within 5 km of central Berlin?"
  • "Show details of traffic incident TTR1"
  • "Which version of the HERE Traffic API am I talking to?"
  • "Is the HERE Traffic API up?"

What it does

  • get_traffic_flow: Real-time traffic flow for road segments inside an area: current speed, free-flow speed, jam factor (0 free to 10 blocked), confidence and whether the road is open.
  • list_traffic_incidents: List real-time traffic incidents (accidents, closures, construction, hazards) inside an area with type, criticality, start and end time and description.
  • get_traffic_incident: Get one traffic incident by its original id (the id never changes through updates), with type, criticality, times and description.
  • get_service_version: Show the Traffic API version and service version, to confirm that the key can reach the service.
  • get_service_health: Check whether the HERE Traffic API service reports itself healthy (status ok).

BYOK key

You bring your own HERE Traffic HERE API key (https://platform.here.com/admin/apps). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to data.traffic.hereapi.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
