What Heroku (BYOK) is for

Heroku (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Heroku data through the Heroku API with a key you supply (Heroku API authorization token). Read-only: 9 tools (get_account, list_apps, get_app, list_dynos, list_releases, list_formation, list_app_domains, list_app_addons, list_addons). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.heroku.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Heroku. Heroku and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Heroku account is my token connected to?"
  • "Which Heroku apps do I have and where are they hosted?"
  • "When was my Heroku app my-app last released?"
  • "Which dynos of my-app are running or crashed?"
  • "What are the releases of Heroku app my-app?"
  • "How many web and worker dynos does my-app run?"

What it does

  • get_account: Show the Heroku account the token belongs to: name, email, verified flag, two-factor status, last login and creation date.
  • list_apps: List the Heroku apps the token can see, with region, stack, team, maintenance flag, web URL and release dates. The API returns at most the first 200 items in its default order (by id); there is no paging.
  • get_app: Get one Heroku app: region, stack, team, maintenance flag, slug size, web URL and release dates.
  • list_dynos: List the dynos of an app with process name, type, state (for example up or crashed), size, command and last update. The API returns at most the first 200 items in its default order (by id); there is no paging.
  • list_releases: List the releases of an app with version, description, status, whether it is the current one, author email and time. The API returns the first 200 in id order, so apps with more releases are cut off; check the highest version number.
  • list_formation: List the process types (formation) of an app with quantity, dyno size and command.
  • list_app_domains: List the domains of an app with hostname, kind (heroku or custom), status, DNS target and ACM status.
  • list_app_addons: List the add-ons attached to an app with service, plan, state, price and creation date. The API returns at most the first 200 items in its default order (by id); there is no paging.
  • list_addons: List all add-ons on all apps the token can see with service, plan, state, owning app and price. The API returns at most the first 200 items in its default order (by id); there is no paging.

BYOK key

You bring your own Heroku Heroku API authorization token (https://dashboard.heroku.com/account/applications). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.heroku.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Heroku API (api.heroku.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/platform-api-reference. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Heroku. Heroku and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Heroku account.
