What Hetzner Storage Box (BYOK) is for

Hetzner Storage Box (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Hetzner Storage Box data through the Hetzner Storage Box API with a key you supply (Hetzner Console project API token (Security, API Tokens)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_storage_boxes, get_storage_box, list_storage_box_types, get_storage_box_type, list_snapshots, list_subaccounts, list_folders, list_box_actions). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.hetzner.com. What it does

  • list_storage_boxes: List the Storage Boxes of the project with status, type, location, sizes in bytes, access settings (SSH, Samba, WebDAV, ZFS) and labels.
  • get_storage_box: Get one Storage Box: status, type, location, host name, usage in bytes (data and snapshots), protection and access settings.
  • list_storage_box_types: List the Storage Box product types (for example bx11) with capacity in bytes, snapshot and subaccount limits and prices per location.
  • get_storage_box_type: Get one Storage Box product type: capacity in bytes, limits, prices per location and deprecation notice.
  • list_snapshots: List the snapshots of a Storage Box with name, description, whether it is automatic, size in bytes and creation time.
  • list_subaccounts: List the subaccounts of a Storage Box with user name, host, home directory and which protocols are allowed. Passwords are never returned.
  • list_folders: List the folder names directly below a path on a Storage Box (default: the root).
  • list_box_actions: List recent asynchronous actions of a Storage Box (snapshots, resizes, access changes) with status, progress and error.

BYOK key

You bring your own Hetzner Storage Box Hetzner Console project API token (Security, API Tokens) (https://console.hetzner.com/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.hetzner.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
