What Honeycomb (BYOK) is for

Honeycomb (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Honeycomb data through the Honeycomb API with a key you supply (Honeycomb configuration API key (US data center)). Read-only: 9 tools (get_key_info, list_datasets, get_dataset, list_columns, list_markers, list_triggers, list_slos, list_boards, list_calculated_fields). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.honeycomb.io. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Honeycomb. Honeycomb and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What can my Honeycomb API key do and which environment is it for?"
  • "Which Honeycomb datasets do I have and when was each last written to?"
  • "When did Honeycomb dataset my-service last receive events?"
  • "Which columns does Honeycomb dataset my-service have?"
  • "Which deploy markers does Honeycomb dataset my-service have?"
  • "Which Honeycomb triggers are currently firing on my-service?"

What it does

  • get_key_info: Show what the API key is: its type, the environment and team it belongs to, and which permissions (events, markers, triggers, boards, queries, columns, SLOs) it has.
  • list_datasets: List the datasets of the key's environment with name, slug, description, column count and last write time.
  • get_dataset: Get one dataset by slug: name, description, column count, last write time and delete protection.
  • list_columns: List the columns (fields) of a dataset with key name, type, description, hidden flag and last written time.
  • list_markers: List markers (deploys, incidents and other annotations on the timeline) of a dataset with start and end time (Unix seconds), message, type and URL.
  • list_triggers: List the triggers (alerts) of a dataset with name, description, threshold, frequency, alert type, and whether each is disabled or currently triggered. Recipients are not returned.
  • list_slos: List the service level objectives (SLOs) of a dataset with name, description, time period in days, target per million and tags.
  • list_boards: List the boards of the environment with name, description, type and tags. Panel contents are not returned.
  • list_calculated_fields: List the calculated fields (derived columns) of a dataset with alias, expression and description.

BYOK key

You bring your own Honeycomb Honeycomb configuration API key (US data center) (https://docs.honeycomb.io/configure/environments/manage-api-keys/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.honeycomb.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Honeycomb API (api.honeycomb.io) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.honeycomb.io/api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Honeycomb. Honeycomb and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Honeycomb account.
