What IATI Datastore (BYOK) is for

IATI Datastore (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own IATI Datastore data through the IATI Datastore API with a key you supply (IATI API Gateway subscription key). Read-only: 6 tools (search_activities, search_activities_by_country_and_sector, search_activity_participants, get_activity_by_identifier, search_transactions, search_budgets). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.iatistandard.org. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IATI Datastore. IATI Datastore and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which aid activities mention rabbit production?"
  • "Which teacher training activities (sector 11130) are active in Kenya or Uganda?"
  • "Which organisations participate in activities in the Philippines?"
  • "Show the IATI activity with identifier XM-DAC-41114-2020-001."
  • "Which transactions above 1 million were recorded for Uganda?"
  • "Which national NGO budgets exist for the Philippines?"

What it does

  • search_activities: Search development and humanitarian aid activities by title, description, country, sector or publisher; returns identifier, title, description and countries.
  • search_activities_by_country_and_sector: List aid activities with start and end dates for a recipient country and sector code query; returns identifier, title, countries, sectors and dates.
  • search_activity_participants: Find which organisations take part in matching activities: returns identifier, participating organisation references and names.
  • get_activity_by_identifier: Look up an activity by its IATI identifier; returns title, description, countries, sectors and dates.
  • search_transactions: Search individual aid transactions (disbursements, commitments) by country, sector or value range; returns identifier, value, description, country and sector.
  • search_budgets: Search planned budgets of aid activities, for example by publisher type and recipient country; returns identifier, publisher type and countries.

BYOK key

You bring your own IATI Datastore IATI API Gateway subscription key (https://developer.iatistandard.org/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.iatistandard.org over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the IATI Datastore API (api.iatistandard.org) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://iatistandard.org/en/iati-tools-and-resources/iati-datastore/how-to-use-the-datastore-api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IATI Datastore. IATI Datastore and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your IATI Datastore account.
