What IEEE Xplore (BYOK) is for
IEEE Xplore (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own IEEE Xplore data through the IEEE Xplore API with a key you supply (IEEE Xplore API key). Read-only: 6 tools (search_articles, search_by_author, search_standards, get_article_by_number, get_article_by_doi, search_open_access). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to ieeexploreapi.ieee.org. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IEEE Xplore. IEEE Xplore and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Find IEEE papers about federated learning from 2024 or later"
- "What has author Geoffrey Hinton published in IEEE Xplore?"
- "Which IEEE standards deal with wireless LANs?"
- "Show the IEEE document with article number 6762843"
- "Look up DOI 10.1109/5.771073 in IEEE Xplore"
- "Find open access IEEE papers about quantum error correction"
What it does
search_articles: Search IEEE Xplore metadata (title, authors, abstract, publication, year, citing paper and patent counts, links) by free text with optional year and content type filters.search_by_author: Find IEEE Xplore documents by an author name (first or last name, at least 3 characters before any wildcard), optionally from a given organization.search_standards: Search IEEE standards by free text, with standard number, status (for example active or draft), title and abstract.get_article_by_number: Get one IEEE Xplore document by its article number with abstract, authors, publication details and citing counts.get_article_by_doi: Look up an IEEE Xplore document by DOI and return its metadata and abstract.search_open_access: Search IEEE Xplore for open access documents only, using free text.
BYOK key
You bring your own IEEE Xplore IEEE Xplore API key (https://developer.ieee.org/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to ieeexploreapi.ieee.org over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
Data sources
- https://developer.ieee.org/docs (the API this connector calls, with a BYOK key)
Live from the IEEE Xplore API (ieeexploreapi.ieee.org) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://developer.ieee.org/docs. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.
What it is not
Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IEEE Xplore. IEEE Xplore and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your IEEE Xplore account.
