What IONOS Cloud DNS (BYOK) is for

IONOS Cloud DNS (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own IONOS Cloud DNS data through the IONOS Cloud DNS API with a key you supply (IONOS Cloud API token (JWT)). Read-only: 6 tools (list_zones, get_zone, list_zone_records, search_records, get_record, list_secondary_zones). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to dns.de-fra.ionos.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IONOS Cloud DNS. IONOS Cloud DNS and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which DNS zones do I host with IONOS Cloud DNS?"
  • "Show IONOS DNS zone 7d0e6a30-0000-4000-8000-000000000001."
  • "What DNS records does my IONOS zone have?"
  • "Which A records named 'www' do I have in IONOS Cloud DNS?"
  • "Show record r1 of my IONOS DNS zone."
  • "Which secondary DNS zones do I have at IONOS?"

What it does

  • list_zones: List your IONOS Cloud DNS primary zones with zone name, enabled flag, state and nameservers.
  • get_zone: Get one primary DNS zone by id: name, description, enabled flag, state, nameservers and creation date.
  • list_zone_records: List the DNS records of one zone with name, type, content, TTL, priority, enabled flag and FQDN.
  • search_records: Search DNS records across all your primary zones by zone id, record name, type or state.
  • get_record: Get one DNS record of a zone by its id.
  • list_secondary_zones: List secondary (AXFR) zones with zone name, state, nameservers and the primary server IPs they transfer from.

BYOK key

You bring your own IONOS Cloud DNS IONOS Cloud API token (JWT) (https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/set-up-ionos-cloud/management/identity-access-management/token-manager). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to dns.de-fra.ionos.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the IONOS Cloud DNS API (dns.de-fra.ionos.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/api-reference/network-services/cloud-dns. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by IONOS Cloud DNS. IONOS Cloud DNS and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your IONOS Cloud DNS account.
