What Lens (BYOK) is for

Lens (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Lens data through the Lens API with a key you supply (Lens API access token (scholarly or patent API plan)). Read-only: 5 tools (search_scholarly_works, get_scholarly_work, find_scholarly_work_by_doi, search_patents, get_patent). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.lens.org. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Lens. Lens and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Find papers about malaria vaccine published after 2020 on Lens"
  • "Show the Lens record 086-713-276-176-892"
  • "Is the paper with DOI 10.1016/j.ejca.2015.05.019 on Lens and how often is it cited?"
  • "Find recent European patents about solid state batteries on Lens"
  • "Show the Lens patent record 031-156-664-516-153"

What it does

  • search_scholarly_works: Search Lens scholarly works (papers, books, datasets) with a Lens query string; returns total hits and per-record title, year, source, identifiers, citation counts and open access status.
  • get_scholarly_work: Get one Lens scholarly work by its Lens ID, with title, abstract, source, identifiers, citation counts and open access status.
  • find_scholarly_work_by_doi: Look up scholarly works on Lens by DOI and return the matching records with title, year, source and citation counts.
  • search_patents: Search Lens patent documents with a Lens query string; returns total hits and per-record jurisdiction, number, kind, publication date, title, parties and legal status.
  • get_patent: Get one Lens patent document by its Lens ID, with title, abstract, applicants, inventors and legal status.

BYOK key

You bring your own Lens Lens API access token (scholarly or patent API plan) (https://www.lens.org/lens/user/subscriptions). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.lens.org over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Lens API (api.lens.org) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.api.lens.org/getting-started.html. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Lens. Lens and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Lens account.
