What Listen Notes (BYOK) is for

Listen Notes (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Listen Notes data through the Listen Notes API with a key you supply (Listen API key). Read-only: 11 tools (search, best_podcasts, get_podcast, get_episode, podcast_recommendations, episode_recommendations, list_genres, list_regions, list_languages, trending_searches, random_episode). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to listen-api.listennotes.com.   • "Show the latest episodes of a podcast"
  • "Tell me about this podcast episode"

  • "What episodes are similar to this one?"

What it does

  • search: Search Listen Notes for podcast episodes, podcasts or curated lists by text. Returns titles, publishers, dates, lengths and links. The free plan shows at most 30 results per query (offset below 30).
  • best_podcasts: List curated best podcasts overall or in one genre, optionally per country and language, sorted by recency or Listen Score; 20 per page.
  • get_podcast: Get a podcast's details (publisher, description, language, episode count, Listen Score) and up to 10 of its episodes; page with next_episode_pub_date.
  • get_episode: Get one episode's details by id: title, description, publication time, audio length, links and the parent podcast.
  • podcast_recommendations: List up to 8 podcasts similar to a given podcast.
  • episode_recommendations: List up to 8 episodes similar to a given episode.
  • list_genres: List podcast genres with id, name and parent id; the ids are the genre_id of best_podcasts and genre_ids of search.
  • list_regions: List supported country codes and names for the region parameter of best_podcasts and search.
  • list_languages: List supported podcast languages for the language parameter of search and best_podcasts.
  • trending_searches: List up to 10 recent trending search terms on Listen Notes.
  • random_episode: Get one random podcast episode (recently published ones are more likely) with its podcast.

BYOK key

You bring your own Listen Notes Listen API key (https://www.listennotes.com/api/dashboard/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to listen-api.listennotes.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
