What Mapbox Search Box API (your token) is for

Mapbox Search Box API (your token) lets an AI assistant read your own Mapbox Search Box data through the Mapbox Search Box API with a key you supply (Mapbox access token (public or secret)). Read-only: 6 tools (suggest_places, retrieve_place, search_places, search_by_category, reverse_lookup, list_categories). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.mapbox.com. What it does

  • suggest_places: Autocomplete: suggest places, addresses, categories and points of interest for partial text, without coordinates (use retrieve_place with the mapbox_id for those); up to 10 suggestions.
  • retrieve_place: Get the full feature (coordinates, address, category) of a suggestion by its mapbox_id, ending an autocomplete session.
  • search_places: One-off text search for places, addresses and points of interest with coordinates and metadata; up to 10 results, optionally biased or limited by location, country, type or category.
  • search_by_category: List points of interest of one category (for example gas_station, airport, hotel) around a point or inside a box; up to 25 results.
  • reverse_lookup: Find the address or place at a longitude and latitude; up to 10 results.
  • list_categories: List all point-of-interest categories with their canonical id, name and icon, in the chosen language.

BYOK key

You bring your own Mapbox Search Box Mapbox access token (public or secret) (https://console.mapbox.com/account/access-tokens/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.mapbox.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
