What Mender Deployments (BYOK) is for

Mender Deployments (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Mender Deployments data through the Mender Deployments API with a key you supply (Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host)). Read-only: 9 tools (list_deployments, get_deployment, get_deployment_statistics, list_deployment_devices, list_device_deployment_history, list_releases, list_artifacts, get_artifact, get_storage_usage). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to hosted.mender.io. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mender Deployments. Mender Deployments and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Mender deployments are in progress right now?"
  • "Show Mender deployment 6a1b3e4c-1111-4f2b-9d0a-0a1b2c3d4e5f"
  • "How many devices succeeded or failed in Mender deployment 6a1b3e4c-1111-4f2b-9d0a-0a1b2c3d4e5f?"
  • "Which devices failed in Mender deployment 6a1b3e4c-1111-4f2b-9d0a-0a1b2c3d4e5f?"
  • "What updates has Mender device dev-1 received?"
  • "Which Mender releases support device type raspberrypi4?"

What it does

  • list_deployments: List OTA deployments (active and historical) with name, artifact, creation and finish time, status, device count, groups and status statistics. Filter by status, type, name or creation time.
  • get_deployment: Get one deployment: name, artifact, times, status, device count, groups and the per-status device counts.
  • get_deployment_statistics: Count the devices of a deployment per status: success, failure, pending, downloading, installing, rebooting, aborted and the pause states.
  • list_deployment_devices: List the devices of a deployment with their update status, device type, start and finish time, state and whether a log exists. Filter by status.
  • list_device_deployment_history: List the deployments a single device took part in, each with the deployment summary and the device's own status in it.
  • list_releases: List releases (named groups of artifacts) with modification time, artifacts, tags and notes. Filter by name, description, device type or update type.
  • list_artifacts: List the artifacts (update packages) with name, description, compatible device types, signed flag, size and modification time. Filter by name, description or device type.
  • get_artifact: Get one artifact by id with compatible device types, provides and depends metadata, update contents, size and time.
  • get_storage_usage: Show the artifact storage limit and current usage of the tenant in bytes.

BYOK key

You bring your own Mender Deployments Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host) (https://hosted.mender.io/ui/settings/my-profile). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to hosted.mender.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Mender Deployments API (hosted.mender.io) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.mender.io/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.
