What Mender Fleet Insights (BYOK) is for

Mender Fleet Insights (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Mender Fleet Insights data through the Mender Fleet Insights API with a key you supply (Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host)). Read-only: 7 tools (list_cloud_integrations, list_integration_events, get_device_cloud_state, list_filterable_attributes, list_searchable_attributes, list_group_devices, get_device_group). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to hosted.mender.io. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which cloud integrations does my Mender tenant have?"
  • "What integration events did Mender record recently?"
  • "What is the cloud-reported state of Mender device dev-1?"
  • "Which inventory attributes can I filter my Mender devices by?"
  • "Which device attributes can I search on in Mender and how common are they?"
  • "Which Mender devices are in the group 'field'?"

What it does

  • list_cloud_integrations: List the cloud integrations configured for the tenant (Azure IoT Hub, Google IoT Core, AWS or webhook) with id, provider, credential type and description. Secrets are not returned.
  • list_integration_events: List the stored integration events (device provisioned, decommissioned or status changed) with type, time and delivery statuses.
  • get_device_cloud_state: Get the desired and reported state of one device as held by its cloud integrations.
  • list_filterable_attributes: List the inventory attributes that can be used to filter devices, with their scope, plus how many are in use and the tenant limit.
  • list_searchable_attributes: List the device attributes known to the search index with scope and how many devices report each.
  • list_group_devices: List the ids of the devices in a device group.
  • get_device_group: Get the group a device belongs to.

BYOK key

You bring your own Mender Fleet Insights Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host) (https://hosted.mender.io/ui/settings/my-profile). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to hosted.mender.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
