What Mender (BYOK) is for

Mender (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Mender data through the Mender API with a key you supply (Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host)). Read-only: 11 tools (get_tenant, list_inventory_devices, get_inventory_device, list_device_authentication, count_devices_by_status, list_groups, list_deployments, get_deployment_statistics, list_releases, list_audit_logs, list_latest_device_alerts). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to hosted.mender.io. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mender. Mender and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How many devices does my Mender organization have and what is the limit?"
  • "Which devices are in my Mender fleet and what software do they run?"
  • "What software does Mender device 6f1b3a5c run?"
  • "Which devices are waiting for authorization in Mender?"
  • "How many Mender devices are accepted or pending?"
  • "Which device groups exist in Mender?"

What it does

  • get_tenant: Show your Hosted Mender organization: name, plan, status, trial, device count and limit. The tenant token is not returned.
  • list_inventory_devices: List devices with their inventory: system attributes (OS, device type, installed artifact, last check-in), identities and update time.
  • get_inventory_device: Get one device's inventory: attributes with scope (system, identity, inventory, monitor, tags) and update time.
  • list_device_authentication: List devices with their authentication status (pending, accepted, rejected, preauthorized), check-in time and identity data.
  • count_devices_by_status: Count devices, optionally only those with one authentication status.
  • list_groups: List the names of the device groups.
  • list_deployments: List deployments with name, artifact, status, device count, type and start and finish times, filtered by status, type or name.
  • get_deployment_statistics: Get the count of devices per deployment status for one deployment: success, failure, pending, installing, rebooting and more.
  • list_releases: List releases with name, modification time, tags, notes and their artifacts.
  • list_audit_logs: List audit log entries (who did what to which object, and when), with filters for time, actor, object type and action.
  • list_latest_device_alerts: List the latest alerts of one device (monitor checks such as service or log alerts), optionally only critical ones.

BYOK key

You bring your own Mender Mender personal access token (US hosted server hosted.mender.io; EU accounts use another host) (https://hosted.mender.io/ui/settings/my-profile). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to hosted.mender.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Mender API (hosted.mender.io) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.mender.io/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mender. Mender and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Mender account.
