What Merge Accounting (BYOK) is for

Merge Accounting (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Merge Accounting data through the Merge Accounting API with a key you supply (Merge production access key). Read-only: 11 tools (get_company_info, list_invoices, list_contacts, list_accounts, list_payments, list_expenses, list_purchase_orders, list_journal_entries, list_balance_sheets, list_income_statements, list_cash_flow_statements). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.merge.dev, api-eu.merge.dev, api-ap.merge.dev. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Merge Accounting. Merge Accounting and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which company is linked in Merge accounting and what is its currency?"
  • "Which invoices are open or partially paid in our accounting system?"
  • "Who are our customers in the accounting system?"
  • "Show our chart of accounts with balances."
  • "What payments were recorded last month?"
  • "What expenses did we record this quarter?"

What it does

  • get_company_info: Show the company record of the linked accounting system: name, legal name, fiscal year end, base currency.
  • list_invoices: List invoices (receivable and payable) with number, dates, status, totals and balance. Filter by type, status, contact or issue date.
  • list_contacts: List customers and suppliers: name, email, currency, status and customer or supplier flags.
  • list_accounts: List the chart of accounts: name, classification, type, status, current balance and currency.
  • list_payments: List payments received or made with date, contact, account, type and total.
  • list_expenses: List expenses (spend transactions) with date, account, contact, subtotal, tax, total and memo.
  • list_purchase_orders: List purchase orders with number, status, vendor, issue and delivery dates and total.
  • list_journal_entries: List journal entries with date, journal number, memo, posting status and currency (lines are not returned).
  • list_balance_sheets: List balance sheet reports with date, currency and net assets (line sections are not returned).
  • list_income_statements: List income statement reports with period, gross profit, net operating income and net income (line sections are not returned).
  • list_cash_flow_statements: List cash flow statements with period, cash at start and end of period and currency (activity sections are not returned).

BYOK key

You bring your own Merge Accounting Merge production access key (https://docs.merge.dev/get-started/authentication). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.merge.dev, api-eu.merge.dev, api-ap.merge.dev over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Merge Accounting API (api.merge.dev, api-eu.merge.dev, api-ap.merge.dev) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.merge.dev/merge-unified/accounting/overview. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Merge Accounting. Merge Accounting and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Merge Accounting account.
