What Modrinth Reference (BYOK) is for
Modrinth Reference (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Modrinth Reference data through the Modrinth Reference API with a key you supply (Modrinth personal access token). Read-only: 11 tools (list_categories, list_loaders, list_game_versions, list_donation_platforms, get_license_text, list_random_projects, get_projects_by_ids, get_project_dependencies, get_versions_by_ids, get_version_by_file_hash, check_project). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.modrinth.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Modrinth Reference. Modrinth Reference and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Which categories exist on Modrinth?"
- "Which mod loaders does Modrinth support?"
- "Which Minecraft versions can I filter Modrinth projects by?"
- "Which donation platforms does Modrinth support?"
- "Show the text of the LGPL-3.0-or-later licence on Modrinth"
- "Show me 5 random Modrinth projects"
What it does
list_categories: List Modrinth project categories with the project type each applies to (for example optimization for mods).list_loaders: List mod loaders (fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt, paper and others) with the project types each supports.list_game_versions: List Minecraft game versions known to Modrinth with release type, date and whether it is a major version.list_donation_platforms: List the donation platforms Modrinth projects can link to (short id and name).get_license_text: Get the title and full text of a licence by SPDX id, as Modrinth stores it.list_random_projects: Get random Modrinth projects (a way to discover mods) with title, type, downloads and supported loaders.get_projects_by_ids: Get several projects at once by ids or slugs.get_project_dependencies: List the projects another project depends on (name, type, downloads, loaders).get_versions_by_ids: Get several project versions at once by version ids.get_version_by_file_hash: Identify a mod file by its hash: returns the Modrinth version (name, number, type, loaders, game versions, project id) that contains this file.check_project: Check whether a project id or slug exists and get its id.
BYOK key
You bring your own Modrinth Reference Modrinth personal access token (https://modrinth.com/settings/account). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.modrinth.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
