What Modrinth (BYOK) is for

Modrinth (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Modrinth data through the Modrinth API with a key you supply (Modrinth personal access token). Read-only: 10 tools (search_projects, get_project, list_project_versions, get_version, get_project_members, get_user, list_user_projects, get_current_user, list_notifications, get_platform_statistics). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.modrinth.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Modrinth. Modrinth and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Find the most downloaded Fabric optimization mods for Minecraft 1.21 on Modrinth"
  • "How many downloads does the sodium project have on Modrinth?"
  • "What are the latest Fabric versions of sodium for Minecraft 1.21?"
  • "What changed in Modrinth version IIJJKKLL?"
  • "Who works on the sodium project on Modrinth?"
  • "Who is the Modrinth user jellysquid3?"

What it does

  • search_projects: Search Modrinth projects (mods, plugins, modpacks, resource packs, shaders) with facets for type, loader, game version and category, sorted by relevance, downloads, follows or date.
  • get_project: Get one Modrinth project by ID or slug: title, description, type, status, loaders, game versions, downloads, followers, license, links and dates.
  • list_project_versions: List the versions of a project, newest first, optionally filtered by loader, game version or featured flag, with version type, supported game versions and downloads.
  • get_version: Get one version by ID: number, type, supported game versions and loaders, status, downloads, publish date and changelog.
  • get_project_members: List the team members of a project with their role and whether they accepted the invite.
  • get_user: Get a Modrinth user's public profile by ID or username: name, bio, avatar, role and join date.
  • list_user_projects: List the projects owned by a user with downloads, followers, loaders and status.
  • get_current_user: Show the Modrinth account the token belongs to: ID, username, name, role and join date.
  • list_notifications: List a user's Modrinth notifications (own account only) with type, title, text, link and read flag. Needs a token with notification read scope.
  • get_platform_statistics: Show Modrinth platform totals: number of projects, versions, files and authors.

BYOK key

You bring your own Modrinth Modrinth personal access token (https://modrinth.com/settings/account). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.modrinth.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Modrinth API (api.modrinth.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.modrinth.com/api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Modrinth. Modrinth and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Modrinth account.
