What n8n (BYOK) is for

n8n (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own n8n data through the n8n API with a key you supply (n8n API key). Read-only: 8 tools (list_workflows, get_workflow, get_workflow_tags, list_executions, get_execution, list_tags, list_projects, get_insights_summary). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.app.n8n.cloud. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by n8n. n8n and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which of my n8n workflows are active?"
  • "Show details of my n8n workflow"
  • "Which tags does my n8n workflow have?"
  • "Which n8n executions failed recently?"
  • "Did n8n execution 1234 succeed?"
  • "Which tags exist in my n8n instance?"

What it does

  • list_workflows: List the workflows of an n8n Cloud instance with name, active state, trigger count and dates (no node contents). Filter by active state, name, tag or project. Page with nextCursor.
  • get_workflow: Get one n8n workflow by id: name, description, active state, version, trigger count, dates and timezone. Node settings and credentials are not returned.
  • get_workflow_tags: List the tags attached to one n8n workflow.
  • list_executions: List recent n8n executions (newest first) with workflow id, status (success, error, running, waiting, ...), mode and start and stop times. Execution data is never included. Page with nextCursor.
  • get_execution: Get one n8n execution by id: workflow, status, mode, start and stop times and retry information. Execution data is not included.
  • list_tags: List all tags defined in an n8n instance with id, name and dates. Page with nextCursor.
  • list_projects: List the projects of an n8n instance with name, type (personal or team), description and dates. Page with nextCursor.
  • get_insights_summary: Get n8n run statistics for a period: total and failed executions, failure rate, time saved and average run time, each with the change versus the previous period.

BYOK key

You bring your own n8n n8n API key (https://docs.n8n.io/connect/n8n-api/authentication). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.app.n8n.cloud over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the n8n API (*.app.n8n.cloud) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.n8n.io/connect/n8n-api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by n8n. n8n and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your n8n account.
