What NewsMesh (BYOK) is for

NewsMesh (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own NewsMesh data through the NewsMesh API with a key you supply (NewsMesh API key). Read-only: 5 tools (get_trending_articles, get_latest_articles, search_articles, search_articles_by_publisher, get_article). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.newsmesh.co. NewsMesh and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What is trending in the news right now?"
  • "What is the latest business news about the United States?"
  • "What was written about "climate change" in September 2026?"
  • "What did the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal publish about inflation?"
  • "Show me the article with id 4c213ea447c9773981780776c9b7399b."

What it does

  • get_trending_articles: Get the trending articles from NewsMesh's curated, cached feed, each with category, topics and people mentioned.
  • get_latest_articles: Get the latest articles, optionally by category, by the countries the story is about, or by the country of the news outlet. The plan limits how far back it reaches and may delay articles by up to 24 hours.
  • search_articles: Search articles by keyword with phrase, exclusion and AND / OR syntax, date range, category, country and sort order.
  • search_articles_by_publisher: Search articles from specific publishers by domain (for example nytimes.com,wsj.com), or exclude publishers, optionally with a keyword.
  • get_article: Get one article by its NewsMesh article id (from trending, latest or search results).

BYOK key

You bring your own NewsMesh NewsMesh API key (https://newsmesh.co/dashboard). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.newsmesh.co over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
