What Nexus Mods (BYOK) is for

Nexus Mods (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Nexus Mods data through the Nexus Mods API with a key you supply (Nexus Mods personal API key). Read-only: 9 tools (list_games, get_game, get_trending_mods, get_latest_added_mods, get_latest_updated_mods, list_updated_mods, get_mod, list_mod_files, get_mod_changelogs). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.nexusmods.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nexus Mods. Nexus Mods and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which games does Nexus Mods cover?"
  • "How many mods does Nexus Mods have for Skyrim Special Edition?"
  • "What mods are trending for Skyrim Special Edition on Nexus Mods?"
  • "What are the newest mods for Fallout 4 on Nexus Mods?"
  • "Which Fallout 4 mods were updated most recently on Nexus Mods?"
  • "Which Skyrim Special Edition mods changed in the last week?"

What it does

  • list_games: List the games supported by Nexus Mods with domain name, download and mod counts. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_game: Get one game with its mod, file and download counts and mod categories. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_trending_mods: Get the 10 trending mods of a game. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_latest_added_mods: Get the 10 mods most recently added for a game. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_latest_updated_mods: Get the 10 mods most recently updated for a game. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • list_updated_mods: List the IDs and last update times of all mods updated for a game in the last day, week or month. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_mod: Get one mod: name, summary, description, author, version, endorsements, downloads and dates. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • list_mod_files: List the files of a mod, optionally by category (main, update, optional, old_version, miscellaneous). The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_mod_changelogs: Get the changelog entries of a mod, keyed by version. The OpenAPI file does not list response fields, so the answer is passed through (capped).

BYOK key

You bring your own Nexus Mods Nexus Mods personal API key (https://www.nexusmods.com/users/myaccount?tab=api%20access). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.nexusmods.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Nexus Mods API (api.nexusmods.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://app.swaggerhub.com/apis-docs/NexusMods/nexus-mods_public_api_params_in_form_data/1.0. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nexus Mods. Nexus Mods and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Nexus Mods account.
