What OpenCage (BYOK) is for

OpenCage (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own OpenCage data through the OpenCage API with a key you supply (API key). Read-only: 3 tools (geocode_address, reverse_geocode, get_timezone_of_place). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.opencagedata.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What are the coordinates of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin?"
  • "What address is at latitude 51.9526 and longitude 7.6325?"
  • "What time zone is Pune, India in?"

What it does

  • geocode_address: Convert an address or place name to latitude and longitude, with the formatted address, address components, a confidence score from 0 to 10 and the time zone. Returns up to 100 candidates.
  • reverse_geocode: Convert a latitude and longitude to the nearest address or place, with formatted address, components and time zone.
  • get_timezone_of_place: Find the time zone name, UTC offset and daylight-saving state of a place, given an address, place name or 'latitude,longitude'.

BYOK key

You bring your own OpenCage API key (https://opencagedata.com/api). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.opencagedata.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
