What OpenTripMap (BYOK) is for

OpenTripMap (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own OpenTripMap data through the OpenTripMap API with a key you supply (OpenTripMap API key). Read-only: 5 tools (find_place_by_name, list_places_in_radius, list_places_in_bbox, get_place_details, suggest_places). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.opentripmap.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What are the coordinates of Lisbon in Portugal?"
  • "Which museums are within 2 km of the centre of Lisbon?"
  • "What attractions are in this map rectangle around Alfama in Lisbon?"
  • "Give me the details of the place with xid W286786280"
  • "Suggest places starting with 'cast' near Lisbon"

What it does

  • find_place_by_name: Turn a place name (city, village, region) into coordinates, country, time zone and population using GeoNames data.
  • list_places_in_radius: List points of interest around a coordinate within a radius in metres, closest first, with category list and popularity filter.
  • list_places_in_bbox: List points of interest inside a bounding box given by minimum and maximum longitude and latitude.
  • get_place_details: Get one place by its OpenTripMap id (xid): name, categories, popularity rating, description, image, Wikipedia link and website.
  • suggest_places: Autocomplete a place name near a coordinate: returns matching points of interest within a radius, with the matched text highlighted.

BYOK key

You bring your own OpenTripMap OpenTripMap API key (https://dev.opentripmap.org/register). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.opentripmap.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
