What Outline Activity (BYOK) is for

Outline Activity (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Outline Activity data through the Outline Activity API with a key you supply (API key (starts with ol_api_; cloud-hosted Outline only)). Read-only: 10 tools (list_events, list_shares, list_pins, list_drafts, list_archived_documents, list_deleted_documents, get_collection_structure, list_data_attributes, get_document_insights, list_file_operations). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to app.getoutline.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What changed in our Outline workspace recently?"
  • "Which Outline documents are shared publicly and how often are they viewed?"
  • "Which Outline documents are pinned on the home page?"
  • "What Outline drafts do I have?"
  • "Which Outline documents have been archived?"
  • "What is in the Outline trash?"

What it does

  • list_events: List the workspace audit trail: event name (documents.update, collections.create ...), who did it, which document or collection and when. Paged by offset and limit.
  • list_shares: List public share links with the shared document, link address, published flag, view count and last access time. Paged by offset and limit.
  • list_pins: List pinned documents of a collection, or of the home screen when no collection is given. Paged by offset and limit.
  • list_drafts: List the key owner's unpublished draft documents, optionally of one collection. Paged by offset and limit; the text is not returned.
  • list_archived_documents: List archived documents the key can access, optionally of one collection. Paged by offset and limit; the text is not returned.
  • list_deleted_documents: List documents in the trash that the key can access. Paged by offset and limit; the text is not returned.
  • get_collection_structure: Get the document tree of a collection: nested titles, ids and addresses (no text).
  • list_data_attributes: List the custom data attributes (typed properties) defined for documents, with type and options. Paged by offset and limit.
  • get_document_insights: Get activity roll-ups for one document (views, viewers, comments, reactions, revisions, editors per day or week). Insights must be enabled on the document.
  • list_file_operations: List imports and exports of the workspace with format, state, size and time (no file contents). Paged by offset and limit.

BYOK key

You bring your own Outline Activity API key (starts with ol_api_; cloud-hosted Outline only) (https://www.getoutline.com/developers). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to app.getoutline.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
