What PermitStack (BYOK) is for

PermitStack (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own PermitStack data through the PermitStack API with a key you supply (PermitStack API key). Read-only: 9 tools (search_permits, get_permit, get_permits_by_address, list_permit_events, get_property_history, get_property_by_parcel, search_contractors, get_contractor, find_systems_due_for_replacement). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.permit-stack.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by PermitStack. PermitStack and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which roofing permits were issued in Tampa, FL in the last month?"
  • "What are the details of permit 7f3c2a10-5b1e-4c55-9d2a-1c0b6a3e9f11?"
  • "What permits have been pulled at 123 Main St?"
  • "Which new solar permits were detected in Tampa recently?"
  • "What permits and roof, solar or HVAC work are on record for 123 Main St, Tampa, FL?"
  • "What permits are on record for parcel A-12-29-18-ZZZ-000001-00010.0 in Florida?"

What it does

  • search_permits: Search US building permits by location, address, parcel, category, status, property type, date, value or keyword. Returns permit number, status, category, address, parcel, description, estimated value, dates, contractor and jurisdiction.
  • get_permit: Get one building permit by its PermitStack id: status, category, address, parcel, description, estimated value, dates, contractor, jurisdiction and coordinates.
  • get_permits_by_address: List every permit on file for a street address (partial match), newest records first, with status, category, valuation and dates.
  • list_permit_events: List permit change events (new permit, status change, issued, completed, expired) detected in the daily ingest, newest first, filterable by place, category and type.
  • get_property_history: Get the construction history of an address: permit timeline, counts by category, contractors, total valuation and signals such as solar, roof, HVAC and pool age. An address with no permits returns found false.
  • get_property_by_parcel: Get the construction history of a parcel (APN): permit timeline, counts by category, contractors, total valuation and signals such as solar, roof, HVAC and pool age.
  • search_contractors: Search permit-pulling contractors by name, location, specialty or licence number, ranked by activity score, with permit counts and licence details. Contact details are not returned.
  • get_contractor: Get a contractor profile by id: name, licence, location, permit totals, first and last permit dates, specialties, recent categories and average project value. Phone and email are not returned.
  • find_systems_due_for_replacement: Find addresses whose most recent permit for a trade (roofing, HVAC, mechanical, solar, pool) is old enough that the system is likely due for replacement, with nothing newer on file.

BYOK key

You bring your own PermitStack PermitStack API key (https://permit-stack.com/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.permit-stack.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Notices

PermitStack's free plan allows 100 requests a day and only a recent window of permit dates; some filters and fields need a paid plan. Owner names and addresses, applicant names and contractor phone numbers are deliberately not returned by these tools.

Data sources

Live from the PermitStack API (api.permit-stack.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://permit-stack.com/docs. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by PermitStack. PermitStack and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your PermitStack account.
