What Pinata (BYOK) is for

Pinata (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Pinata data through the Pinata API with a key you supply (API key JWT). Read-only: 8 tools (list_files, get_file, list_groups, get_group, list_pin_requests, get_hot_swap_history, list_gateways, get_top_gateway_traffic). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.pinata.cloud. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pinata. Pinata and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which files have I stored on Pinata's public network?"
  • "Show Pinata file e5323ea7-8a02-4486-9b6f-63c788810aeb"
  • "Which file groups do I have on Pinata?"
  • "Show Pinata group 01919976-955f-7d06-bd59-72e80743fb95"
  • "Which of my pin-by-CID requests are still searching?"
  • "What did CID bafkrei... point to over time on my gateway?"

What it does

  • list_files: List files stored on Pinata (public or private IPFS network) with name, CID, size, MIME type, group and key-values, optionally filtered by name, group, MIME type or CID.
  • get_file: Get one stored file by its Pinata file id: name, CID, size, MIME type, group id, key-values and creation time.
  • list_groups: List file groups with name, visibility and creation time, optionally filtered by name or by public visibility.
  • get_group: Get one file group by id: name, visibility and creation time.
  • list_pin_requests: List pin-by-CID requests on the public network with their status (for example searching, retrieving, backfilled or expired), host nodes and queue time.
  • get_hot_swap_history: Show the swap history of a CID on a gateway that has the Hot Swaps plugin installed: which CIDs it pointed to and when each was set.
  • list_gateways: List the account's dedicated IPFS gateways with domain, restriction flag, creation time and custom domains.
  • get_top_gateway_traffic: Rank a gateway's traffic between two dates by CID, country, region, user agent, referrer or file name, by number of requests or bandwidth.

BYOK key

You bring your own Pinata API key JWT (https://app.pinata.cloud/developers/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.pinata.cloud over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Pinata API (api.pinata.cloud) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.pinata.cloud/api-reference/introduction. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pinata. Pinata and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Pinata account.
