What PostHog Content Library (BYOK) is for

PostHog Content Library (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own PostHog Content Library data through the PostHog Content Library API with a key you supply (personal API key (with dashboard_template:read, notebook:read, session_recording_playlist:read and endpoint:read scopes)). Read-only: 7 tools (list_dashboard_templates, get_dashboard_template, list_notebooks, list_recording_playlists, list_saved_endpoints, get_saved_endpoint, list_endpoint_versions). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to us.posthog.com, eu.posthog.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which dashboard templates can I use in PostHog?"
  • "What tiles does PostHog dashboard template 0197b1 contain?"
  • "Which notebooks exist in my PostHog project?"
  • "Which session recording playlists are saved in PostHog?"
  • "Which saved query endpoints does my PostHog project have?"
  • "Show the PostHog saved endpoint weekly_signups"

What it does

  • list_dashboard_templates: List dashboard templates (official, organization or project) with name, description, tags, scope and featured flag. Tile definitions are left out.
  • get_dashboard_template: Get one dashboard template with its name, description, tags, scope, tiles and filters.
  • list_notebooks: List the notebooks of a project with title, short id and created and modified times; notebook content and authors are left out.
  • list_recording_playlists: List session recording playlists (saved filters or collections) with name, description, pinned flag and dates. No recordings or viewer data are returned.
  • list_saved_endpoints: List the saved query endpoints (named, versioned queries exposed as API paths) with description, active flag, freshness, materialization and last run time. The query itself is left out.
  • get_saved_endpoint: Get one saved query endpoint with its description, active flag, freshness, version count, materialization state and the query definition.
  • list_endpoint_versions: List the versions of a saved query endpoint with version number, active flag and creation and update times.

BYOK key

You bring your own PostHog Content Library personal API key (with dashboard_template:read, notebook:read, session_recording_playlist:read and endpoint:read scopes) (https://us.posthog.com/settings/user-api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to us.posthog.com, eu.posthog.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
