What PromptLayer (BYOK) is for

PromptLayer (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own PromptLayer data through the PromptLayer API with a key you supply (PromptLayer API key). Read-only: 11 tools (list_prompt_templates, get_prompt_template, get_prompt_template_labels, get_request, get_trace, list_datasets, get_dataset_rows, list_evaluations, get_evaluation_score, list_workflows, list_tool_registries). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.promptlayer.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by PromptLayer. PromptLayer and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which prompt templates do I have in PromptLayer?"
  • "Show the production version of the PromptLayer prompt 'support-reply'"
  • "Which version of PromptLayer prompt 'support-reply' is labelled prod?"
  • "Show PromptLayer request 12345"
  • "Show the spans of PromptLayer trace 0af7651916cd43dd8448eb211c80319c"
  • "Which datasets exist in my PromptLayer workspace?"

What it does

  • list_prompt_templates: List prompt templates in the workspace (newest first) with their latest version number; filter by name, release label or status.
  • get_prompt_template: Get one prompt template's content (raw, without calling a model) by name or id, optionally for a version number or release label.
  • get_prompt_template_labels: List the release labels (for example prod, staging) of a prompt template and the version each label points to.
  • get_request: Get one logged LLM request by id: prompt blueprint, provider, model, token counts, price, latency and trace id.
  • get_trace: Get all spans of one trace by trace id.
  • list_datasets: List dataset versions with column names, filter settings and the dataset group they belong to.
  • get_dataset_rows: Read rows of one dataset version with its column names; supports search text and paging.
  • list_evaluations: List evaluation pipelines with dataset, folder, tags and creation time; optionally nest their batch runs.
  • get_evaluation_score: Get the overall score of one evaluation report with its score type and details.
  • list_workflows: List agents (workflows) with their latest version number and release labels.
  • list_tool_registries: List tool registries (shared function definitions) with name, description and folder.

BYOK key

You bring your own PromptLayer PromptLayer API key (https://dashboard.promptlayer.com/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.promptlayer.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the PromptLayer API (api.promptlayer.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.promptlayer.com/reference/introduction. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by PromptLayer. PromptLayer and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your PromptLayer account.
