What Render Datastores (BYOK) is for

Render Datastores (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Render Datastores data through the Render Datastores API with a key you supply (API key). Read-only: 7 tools (get_postgres, get_postgres_recovery, list_postgres_users, list_postgres_table_sizes, list_postgres_table_scans, list_key_value_stores, get_key_value_store). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.render.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Render Datastores. Render Datastores and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How big is my Render Postgres database and what plan is it on?"
  • "How far back can I restore my Render Postgres database?"
  • "Which database users does my Render Postgres have?"
  • "Which tables take the most space in my Render Postgres?"
  • "Which tables are scanned most often in my Render Postgres?"
  • "Which Key Value stores do I run on Render?"

What it does

  • get_postgres: Get one Render Postgres database: plan, region, status, role, disk size, high availability flag, database name, user, read replicas and dates. Connection strings are not requested.
  • get_postgres_recovery: Get the point-in-time recovery status of a Render Postgres database and the earliest time it can be restored to.
  • list_postgres_users: List the database users of a Render Postgres database with default flag, creation time and open connection count (passwords are not requested).
  • list_postgres_table_sizes: List table and index sizes in bytes of a Render Postgres database, by database, schema and table.
  • list_postgres_table_scans: List how many sequential scans each table of a Render Postgres database has had, by database, schema and table.
  • list_key_value_stores: List Render Key Value (Redis-compatible) stores with plan, region, status, version, eviction policy and dates. Connection strings are not requested.
  • get_key_value_store: Get one Render Key Value store: plan, region, status, version, eviction policy, persistence mode and dates.

BYOK key

You bring your own Render Datastores API key (https://dashboard.render.com/settings#api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.render.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Render Datastores API (api.render.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://api-docs.render.com/reference/retrieve-postgres. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Render Datastores. Render Datastores and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Render Datastores account.
