What Seam (BYOK) is for

Seam (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Seam data through the Seam API with a key you supply (Seam API key (seam_...)). Read-only: 11 tools (get_workspace, list_devices, get_device, list_locks, list_thermostats, list_connected_accounts, list_spaces, list_noise_sensors, list_access_control_systems, list_events, list_device_providers). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to connect.getseam.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Seam. Seam and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Seam workspace is my API key for, and is it a sandbox?"
  • "Which of my smart devices are online?"
  • "What is the state of the device named Front Door?"
  • "Are all my smart locks locked right now?"
  • "What is the temperature at each of my thermostats?"
  • "Which vendor accounts are connected to Seam and do any have errors?"

What it does

  • get_workspace: Show the Seam workspace the key belongs to: name, company, sandbox flag and suspension state.
  • list_devices: List the devices in the workspace (locks, thermostats, noise sensors, cameras) with type, online state, lock state and battery level.
  • get_device: Get one device by id or by name, with its capabilities, online state, lock state, battery and any errors or warnings.
  • list_locks: List only the smart locks, with online state, locked state and battery level.
  • list_thermostats: List thermostats with current temperature, humidity and whether heating or cooling is running.
  • list_connected_accounts: List the third-party accounts (lock or thermostat vendor logins) linked to the workspace, with any connection errors.
  • list_spaces: List spaces (rooms, units or buildings) that group devices, with device counts.
  • list_noise_sensors: List noise sensors with online state and the current noise level in decibels.
  • list_access_control_systems: List access control systems (door entry platforms) linked to the workspace with user and group counts.
  • list_events: List recent events such as device.connected, device.disconnected, device.low_battery or lock.locked, filtered by type, device or time.
  • list_device_providers: List the device brands Seam can connect to, optionally by category such as thermostats or consumer_smartlocks.

BYOK key

You bring your own Seam Seam API key (seam_...) (https://console.seam.co/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to connect.getseam.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Seam API (connect.getseam.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.seam.co/latest/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Seam. Seam and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Seam account.
