What Simple Analytics (BYOK) is for

Simple Analytics (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Simple Analytics data through the Simple Analytics API with a key you supply (API key (starts with sa_api_key_)). Read-only: 7 tools (get_overview, get_histogram, get_top_pages, get_top_referrers, get_top_countries, get_audience_breakdown, get_events). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to simpleanalytics.com. Simple Analytics and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How many visitors did example.com get in the last 30 days?"
  • "Show page views per day for example.com over the last month"
  • "What are the most visited pages on example.com?"
  • "Where does the traffic of example.com come from?"
  • "Which countries do the visitors of example.com come from?"
  • "Which browsers do visitors of example.com use?"

What it does

  • get_overview: Get a website's total page views, unique visitors and median seconds on page for a period, optionally filtered by page, country, referrer, UTM source or device.
  • get_histogram: Get a website's page views and visitors per hour, day, week, month or year for a period.
  • get_top_pages: Get a website's top pages with page views, visitors and median seconds on page for a period.
  • get_top_referrers: Get a website's top referrers (normalized) for a period.
  • get_top_countries: Get a website's visitors by country code for a period.
  • get_audience_breakdown: Get a website's visitors broken down by one dimension for a period: browser, operating system, device type or UTM source, medium or campaign.
  • get_events: Get counts of custom events for a website: all events (up to 1000) or a comma-separated list of event names.

BYOK key

You bring your own Simple Analytics API key (starts with sa_api_key_) (https://docs.simpleanalytics.com/api/authenticate). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to simpleanalytics.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
