What SimpleMDM (BYOK) is for

SimpleMDM (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own SimpleMDM data through the SimpleMDM API with a key you supply (SimpleMDM API key (read-only permissions are enough)). Read-only: 9 tools (get_account, list_devices, get_device, list_device_installed_apps, list_apps, list_assignment_groups, list_profiles, list_dep_servers, list_logs). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to a.simplemdm.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by SimpleMDM. SimpleMDM and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which SimpleMDM account is my key for and how many licenses are free?"
  • "Which devices in my MDM have not checked in recently?"
  • "Show details of SimpleMDM device 121"
  • "What apps are installed on SimpleMDM device 121?"
  • "Which apps are in my SimpleMDM app catalog?"
  • "Which assignment groups deploy apps in my MDM?"

What it does

  • get_account: Show the SimpleMDM account: name, app store country and (manual billing plans only) licenses total and available.
  • list_devices: List enrolled devices with name, status, last seen time, OS version, model, serial number, storage, battery, supervision and passcode compliance. Device secrets are never returned.
  • get_device: Get one device by id with OS version, model, serial number, storage, battery, supervision, encryption and compliance flags. Device secrets are never returned.
  • list_device_installed_apps: List the apps installed on one device with name, bundle identifier, version, size and whether they are managed.
  • list_apps: List the app catalog with name, bundle identifier, app type, platform and processing status.
  • list_assignment_groups: List assignment groups (which apps go to which devices) with name, type, auto-deploy flag and their app, device group and device ids.
  • list_profiles: List configuration profiles with name, profile identifier, device count and group count.
  • list_dep_servers: List Apple Business Manager automated enrollment servers with organization name, token expiry and last sync time.
  • list_logs: List logged events of devices and admin actions with namespace, event type, level, source and time, optionally for one device serial number.

BYOK key

You bring your own SimpleMDM SimpleMDM API key (read-only permissions are enough) (https://a.simplemdm.com/admin/api). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to a.simplemdm.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the SimpleMDM API (a.simplemdm.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://api.simplemdm.com/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by SimpleMDM. SimpleMDM and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your SimpleMDM account.
