What Smartcat (BYOK) is for

Smartcat (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Smartcat data through the Smartcat API with a key you supply (Smartcat API key (used as the password; created under Settings > API as a company administrator)). Read-only: 9 tools (get_account, list_projects, get_project, list_translation_memories, list_glossaries, get_smartwords_balance, list_vendors, list_quotes, list_custom_fields). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to smartcat.ai. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Smartcat account do these credentials belong to?"
  • "What translation projects are open in our Smartcat account?"
  • "What is the status and deadline of this Smartcat project?"
  • "Which translation memories do we have for English to German?"
  • "How many terms are in our Smartcat glossaries?"
  • "How many Smartwords do we have left?"

What it does

  • get_account: Show the Smartcat company account the credentials belong to: id, name, type, creation date and whether it is disabled. Uses the European server (smartcat.ai).
  • list_projects: List translation projects of the account with status, deadline, source and target languages. Up to 100 per call; documents are not included.
  • get_project: Get one project: name, status, dates, languages, client id and number.
  • list_translation_memories: List translation memories of the account with languages, creation date and client id. Page with last_processed_id.
  • list_glossaries: List the account's glossaries with languages, number of terms, pending terms and whether each is the default.
  • get_smartwords_balance: Show the workspace's current Smartwords balance (the credit unit Smartcat uses for AI translation).
  • list_vendors: List the vendor (language service provider) accounts connected to the account, with ids and names.
  • list_quotes: List price quotes of the account with project id, cost, currency, approval and payment status and dates.
  • list_custom_fields: List the custom fields defined on the account (projects, documents and others) with type and number of usages.

BYOK key

You bring your own Smartcat Smartcat API key (used as the password; created under Settings > API as a company administrator) (https://developers.smartcat.com/api-guides/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to smartcat.ai over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
