What SportsData.io NHL (BYOK) is for

SportsData.io NHL (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own SportsData.io NHL data through the SportsData.io NHL API with a key you supply (SportsData.io NHL API key). Read-only: 12 tools (get_standings, list_teams, get_current_season, get_season_schedule, list_scores_by_date, list_team_players, list_stadiums, list_team_season_stats, list_player_season_stats_by_team, list_team_game_stats_by_date, list_transactions_by_date, list_referees). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.sportsdata.io. SportsData.io NHL and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

  • "What NHL season is current and when do the playoffs begin?"
  • "Show the NHL schedule for the 2026 season"

What it does

  • get_standings: Get regular-season NHL standings for a season: wins, losses, overtime losses, points percentage, conference and division record and rank, and clinch or elimination flags.
  • list_teams: List active NHL teams with abbreviation, city, name, conference, division, arena id and head coach.
  • get_current_season: Get the current NHL season: season year, start and end year, description, regular season and postseason start dates, and the value to pass as season in other tools.
  • get_season_schedule: Get a season's NHL schedule in short form: game id, date, status, teams, scores and arena id.
  • list_scores_by_date: List NHL games played on one date with status, teams, scores and arena id; live games update while in progress.
  • list_team_players: List a team's NHL roster with name, status, position, jersey number, height and weight.
  • list_stadiums: List NHL arenas with address, city, state, country, capacity and coordinates.
  • list_team_season_stats: List season-total statistics for every NHL team: games, record, goals, assists, shots on goal, power play goals, penalty minutes, hits, blocks and faceoffs.
  • list_player_season_stats_by_team: List season-total statistics of one NHL team's players: games, goals, assists, shots, plus-minus, penalty minutes, hits, and goaltender wins, saves and goals against.
  • list_team_game_stats_by_date: List team game statistics for every NHL game on one date: opponent, home or away, goals, shots, power play goals, penalty minutes, hits and blocks.
  • list_transactions_by_date: List NHL player signings, trades, waivers and releases recorded on one date.
  • list_referees: List NHL on-ice officials with position, jersey number, college and years of experience.

BYOK key

You bring your own SportsData.io NHL SportsData.io NHL API key (https://sportsdata.io/developers/api-documentation/nhl). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.sportsdata.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
