What Sprout Social (BYOK) is for

Sprout Social (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Sprout Social data through the Sprout Social API with a key you supply (Sprout Social API token). Read-only: 7 tools (list_customers, list_profiles, list_tags, list_groups, list_topics, get_profile_analytics, get_post_analytics). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.sproutsocial.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Sprout Social customer accounts can I query?"
  • "Which social profiles are connected to my Sprout account?"
  • "Which campaign tags exist in Sprout?"
  • "Which profile groups do we have in Sprout?"
  • "Which Listening topics are set up in Sprout?"
  • "How many impressions did profile 492 get in September 2026?"

What it does

  • list_customers: List the Sprout customer IDs and names the token can access; the ID is needed by every other tool.
  • list_profiles: List the connected social profiles (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and more) with network type, name, handle and group IDs.
  • list_tags: List the message tags (labels and campaigns) with active state and the groups they belong to.
  • list_groups: List the profile groups created in Sprout.
  • list_topics: List the Listening topics with type, description, group and themes. The documentation shows a bare list, so the answer is passed through (capped).
  • get_profile_analytics: Get daily profile metrics (for example impressions, reactions, net_follower_growth, lifetime_snapshot.followers_count) for up to 100 profiles over up to one year, 1000 rows per page.
  • get_post_analytics: List sent posts with text, link, publication time and lifetime metrics (for example lifetime.impressions, lifetime.reactions), 50 per page by default.

BYOK key

You bring your own Sprout Social Sprout Social API token (https://app.sproutsocial.com/settings/analytics-api/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.sproutsocial.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
