What Stripe Tax (BYOK) is for

Stripe Tax (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Stripe Tax data through the Stripe Tax API with a key you supply (restricted API key with read permissions only (starts with rk_live_ or rk_test_)). Read-only: 12 tools (list_tax_registrations, get_tax_registration, get_tax_settings, get_tax_calculation, list_tax_calculation_line_items, get_tax_transaction, list_tax_transaction_line_items, find_tax_association, list_tax_codes, get_tax_code, list_tax_rates, get_tax_rate). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.stripe.com. What it does

  • list_tax_registrations: List the places where your account is registered to collect tax, with country, status and start and end dates. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • get_tax_registration: Get one tax registration by id: country, status, and when it starts and expires. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • get_tax_settings: Show your Stripe Tax settings: whether Tax is active or pending, default tax behavior and tax code, and the default provider. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • get_tax_calculation: Get one saved tax calculation by id with currency, total, tax amounts (exclusive and inclusive) and tax date. Customer address details are not returned. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • list_tax_calculation_line_items: List the line items of one tax calculation with amount, tax per line, tax code and tax behavior. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • get_tax_transaction: Get one recorded tax transaction by id with currency, type (transaction or reversal), reference, tax date and posting time. Customer address details are not returned. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • list_tax_transaction_line_items: List the line items of one tax transaction with amount, tax, tax code and type. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • find_tax_association: Find the tax calculation and transaction attempts linked to a PaymentIntent. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • list_tax_codes: List Stripe's product tax codes (categories such as software or clothing) with name and description.
  • get_tax_code: Get one product tax code by id, for example txcd_10000000, with its name and description.
  • list_tax_rates: List manually created tax rates with percentage, inclusive flag, jurisdiction and tax type. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.
  • get_tax_rate: Get one tax rate by id: name, percentage, jurisdiction and whether it is inclusive. Works with a restricted key that has read access to this resource only.

BYOK key

You bring your own Stripe Tax restricted API key with read permissions only (starts with rk_live_ or rk_test_) (https://dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.stripe.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
