What Things Board Control (BYOK) is for
Things Board Control (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Things Board Control data through the Things Board Control API with a key you supply (ThingsBoard API key (thingsboard.cloud, ThingsBoard 4.3 or newer; EU accounts use eu.thingsboard.cloud)). Read-only: 6 tools (list_devices, get_device, get_latest_telemetry, get_device_attributes, get_rpc_request, list_device_rpc_requests). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to thingsboard.cloud. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Things Board Control. Things Board Control and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Which devices are in my ThingsBoard tenant?"
- "Show the ThingsBoard device 784f394c-42b6-435a-983c-b7beff2784f9"
- "What are the latest temperature and humidity values of ThingsBoard device 784f394c-42b6-435a-983c-b7beff2784f9?"
- "Which shared attributes does ThingsBoard device 784f394c-42b6-435a-983c-b7beff2784f9 have?"
- "What happened to ThingsBoard RPC call 11111111-2222-3333-4444-555555555555?"
- "Which commands were queued for ThingsBoard device 784f394c-42b6-435a-983c-b7beff2784f9?"
What it does
list_devices: List the tenant's devices with id, name, device type, label and creation time. Use it to find the device id for a command.get_device: Get one device by id: name, type, label and creation time.get_latest_telemetry: Get the most recent value and timestamp of the given telemetry keys of a device, to check the state after a command.get_device_attributes: Read a device's attributes of one scope (server, shared or client) with key, value and last update time.get_rpc_request: Get the status and reply of one persistent RPC call by its rpcId (QUEUED, SENT, DELIVERED, SUCCESSFUL, TIMEOUT, EXPIRED or FAILED).list_device_rpc_requests: List the persistent RPC calls sent to a device, newest first, with method, status and reply.
BYOK key
You bring your own Things Board Control ThingsBoard API key (thingsboard.cloud, ThingsBoard 4.3 or newer; EU accounts use eu.thingsboard.cloud) (https://thingsboard.io/docs/pe/user-guide/api-keys/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to thingsboard.cloud over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
