What Tick (BYOK) is for

Tick (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Tick data through the Tick API with a key you supply (Tick API token (the api_token of your role, from GET /roles.json)). Read-only: 11 tools (list_projects, list_closed_projects, get_project, list_project_tasks, list_tasks, get_task, list_clients, get_client, list_entries, get_entry, list_users). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to www.tickspot.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tick. Tick and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which projects are open in Tick?"
  • "Which Tick projects have been closed?"
  • "Show Tick project 1 and its total hours"
  • "What tasks are in Tick project 1?"
  • "List all open tasks in Tick"
  • "Show Tick task 11"

What it does

  • list_projects: List the open Tick projects with name, budget, billable flag, client and owner. Page-numbered.
  • list_closed_projects: List the closed Tick projects with name, budget, close date, client and owner. Page-numbered.
  • get_project: Get one Tick project by id, including total hours logged.
  • list_project_tasks: List the open tasks of one Tick project with name, budget, position and billable flag. Page-numbered.
  • list_tasks: List all open Tick tasks across projects with name, project, budget and billable flag. Page-numbered.
  • get_task: Get one Tick task by id with name, project, budget and billable flag.
  • list_clients: List the open (non-archived) Tick clients with name and last update. Page-numbered.
  • get_client: Get one Tick client by id with name and archive flag.
  • list_entries: List Tick time entries between two dates with date, hours, notes, task and user. Optionally filter by project, task, user or billed state. Page-numbered.
  • get_entry: Get one Tick time entry by id with date, hours, notes, task and user.
  • list_users: List the users of the Tick subscription with name, email and timezone. Page-numbered.

BYOK key

You bring your own Tick Tick API token (the api_token of your role, from GET /roles.json) (https://github.com/tick/tick-api/blob/master/sections/roles.md). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to www.tickspot.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Tick API (www.tickspot.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://github.com/tick/tick-api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tick. Tick and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Tick account.
