What Tiingo (BYOK) is for

Tiingo (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Tiingo data through the Tiingo API with a key you supply (Tiingo API token). Read-only: 8 tools (get_ticker_metadata, get_latest_price, get_historical_prices, get_iex_quote, get_iex_intraday_prices, get_crypto_prices, search_tickers, get_news). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.tiingo.com.   • "What company is the ticker AAPL and since when does Tiingo have price data?"
  • "What was Apple's last closing price?"
  • "Show Apple's daily closing prices for September 2026"
  • "What is Apple's price right now?"
  • "Show Apple's 5-minute prices for today"
  • "What was the Bitcoin price today?"

What it does

  • get_ticker_metadata: Get a ticker's name, exchange, description and the first and last dates Tiingo has end-of-day data for.
  • get_latest_price: Get the most recent end-of-day price bar of a ticker: open, high, low, close, volume and adjusted values.
  • get_historical_prices: Get daily (or weekly, monthly, annual) end-of-day price bars for a ticker between two dates, raw and split/dividend adjusted. Shows at most 200 bars; narrow the dates for more.
  • get_iex_quote: Get the latest intraday quote of a US stock from the IEX feed: last price, previous close, open, high, low and volume. Bid, ask and last-sale fields are empty unless the account has an IEX entitlement.
  • get_iex_intraday_prices: Get intraday price bars of a US stock from the IEX feed from a start date, at a chosen bar size. Shows at most 200 bars.
  • get_crypto_prices: Get crypto price bars (open, high, low, close, volume, trades) for one or more pairs such as btcusd from a start date. Shows at most 50 pairs.
  • search_tickers: Search Tiingo for tickers by company name or symbol; returns ticker, name, asset type and whether it is still actively quoted. Tiingo marks this endpoint as beta.
  • get_news: Get recent financial news articles with title, source, publish time, summary and the tickers they mention, optionally for chosen tickers. The News API may not be part of every Tiingo plan.

BYOK key

You bring your own Tiingo Tiingo API token (https://www.tiingo.com/account/api/token). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.tiingo.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
