What Ubidots Values (BYOK) is for

Ubidots Values (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Ubidots Values data through the Ubidots Values API with a key you supply (Ubidots account token). Reads and device changes: 6 tools (list_devices, get_device_last_values, list_device_variables, get_variable, set_variable_value, set_variable_value_with_timestamp). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to industrial.api.ubidots.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Ubidots Values. Ubidots Values and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which of my Ubidots devices are active and when did they last report?"
  • "What are the latest readings of Ubidots device ~my-device?"
  • "Which variables does Ubidots device ~my-device have?"
  • "Show Ubidots variable 5dfa39ee1a9ca53020c69391"
  • "Set the relay variable of Ubidots device my-device to 1"
  • "Record a value of 22.5 at a given time for the temperature variable of Ubidots device my-device"

What it does

  • list_devices: List Ubidots devices with label, name, active flag, last activity, tags and number of variables.
  • get_device_last_values: Get the latest value, timestamp and context of every variable of a device in one call.
  • list_device_variables: List the variables of one device with label, type, unit, last value and last activity.
  • get_variable: Get one variable by id with its type, unit, device, last value and properties.
  • set_variable_value: Write one numeric value (a dot) to a variable of a device, stamped with the reception time. For a variable that drives an actuator, this changes the value the device will read or react to, so the physical device state can change. Ubidots creates the device and variable if they do not exist yet, and every dot counts toward the plan's data quota. Not for doors, locks, gates, alarms, cameras, vehicles or safety limits.
  • set_variable_value_with_timestamp: Write one numeric value to a variable with an explicit timestamp in milliseconds. A device that polls the variable may act on it, so this can change the physical device state. Ubidots creates the device and variable if they do not exist yet, and every dot counts toward the plan's data quota. Not for doors, locks, gates, alarms, cameras, vehicles or safety limits.

BYOK key

You bring your own Ubidots Values Ubidots account token (https://industrial.ubidots.com/accounts/signin/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to industrial.api.ubidots.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Ubidots Values API (industrial.api.ubidots.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.ubidots.com/v1.6/reference/send-data-to-a-variable. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Ubidots Values. Ubidots Values and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It reads your Ubidots Values data and can change device state only when a specific action is approved and confirmed (confirm = yes); it never deletes, resets, sends messages or creates paid resources.
