What updown.io (BYOK) is for

updown.io (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own updown.io data through the updown.io API with a key you supply (read-only API key). Read-only: 5 tools (list_checks, get_check, list_downtimes, get_metrics, list_recipients). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to updown.io. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which of my updown.io monitors are down right now?"
  • "Is my updown.io monitor ngg8 up and when does its certificate expire?"
  • "When was my updown.io monitor ngg8 last down?"
  • "What was the average response time of my updown.io monitor ngg8 last week?"
  • "Who gets updown.io alerts?"

What it does

  • list_checks: List your updown.io monitors with URL, alias, current down state, last status code, uptime percentage, check period in seconds and SSL / domain expiry.
  • get_check: Get one monitor by token: URL, state, uptime, last check time, SSL certificate and domain expiry.
  • list_downtimes: List the downtime periods of a monitor, newest first, with start, end, duration in seconds and error. 100 per page.
  • get_metrics: Get uptime, Apdex and response-time breakdown (DNS, connect, TLS, response, total) of a monitor over a period, default the last month.
  • list_recipients: List the alert recipients (email, SMS, webhook, Slack and others) with id, type and name. Addresses and numbers are not returned.

BYOK key

You bring your own updown.io read-only API key (https://updown.io/settings/edit). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to updown.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
