What Zenodo (BYOK) is for

Zenodo (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Zenodo data through the Zenodo API with a key you supply (Zenodo personal access token). Read-only: 7 tools (search_records, get_record, search_licenses, get_license, list_my_uploads, get_my_upload, list_upload_files). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to zenodo.org. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Zenodo. Zenodo and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Find open datasets on glacier mass balance on Zenodo"
  • "Show me Zenodo record 1234"
  • "Which Creative Commons licenses does Zenodo offer?"
  • "What is the Zenodo license cc-by-nc-4.0?"
  • "Which uploads do I have on Zenodo and which are still drafts?"
  • "Show my Zenodo upload 1234"

What it does

  • search_records: Search published Zenodo records (papers, datasets, software, posters and more) by query, type, subtype or community. Uses Elasticsearch query-string syntax; characters such as / have special meaning, so quote DOIs. The answer is the provider's full record list, so use small pages.
  • get_record: Get one published Zenodo record by its numeric ID: DOI, title, creators, description, license, files and links.
  • search_licenses: Search the licenses that can be applied to Zenodo uploads, by name or identifier.
  • get_license: Get one license by its identifier, for example cc-by-nc-4.0: title and link.
  • list_my_uploads: List your own Zenodo uploads (drafts and published) with state, title, DOI and dates. May need a token created with the deposit:write scope.
  • get_my_upload: Get one of your own Zenodo uploads by ID: state, title, DOI, dates and the full metadata. May need a token created with the deposit:write scope.
  • list_upload_files: List the files of one of your own Zenodo uploads: file ID, name, size in bytes and MD5 checksum. May need a token created with the deposit:write scope.

BYOK key

You bring your own Zenodo Zenodo personal access token (https://zenodo.org/account/settings/applications/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to zenodo.org over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Zenodo API (zenodo.org) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://developers.zenodo.org/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Zenodo. Zenodo and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Zenodo account.
