What Canada Business Registry Guide is for
A read-only guide to five Canadian business registries: Corporations Canada (federal) and the registries of Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia and Quebec. It says which registry holds a business depending on where it is incorporated, gives the official page for searching and filing, the search fees the official pages publish (Ontario: profile report $8, document copies $3, certificate of status $26; Alberta: a government fee plus a registry-agent service fee, amounts not stated), the annual return timing where it could be read (federal CBCA: within 60 days following the anniversary, $12 online; Ontario: within 6 months of the fiscal year-end, changes within 15 days), the federal ISC rules, and where machine-readable data is documented. British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and the territories were not researched and are reported as not covered. Nothing is searched, scraped or filed; every fact carries its source, date and verification level. General information, not legal advice.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "We incorporated in Ontario: which registry holds our corporation and where do I file the annual return?"
- "How much does an Ontario profile report, a copy of a document and a certificate of status cost?"
- "When is the annual return due for a federal CBCA corporation compared with an Ontario corporation?"
- "Do CBCA corporations have to report individuals with significant control, and how quickly must changes be recorded?"
- "Is there machine-readable data for the Quebec enterprise register or for federal corporations?"
