Personal carbon-footprint estimator using published EPA and academic emission factors

Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
carbon_footprint_calculatorcarbon_footprint_calculatoremission_factors_referenceCarbonFoot is a fully local personal carbon-footprint calculator using documented, published emission factors — general averages, not a personalized or precise measurement, and not a certified carbon audit. carbon_footprint_calculator takes annual miles by vehicle type (gasoline, hybrid, electric, with an overridable EV efficiency assumption), flight miles split into short-haul and long-haul (short flights emit more CO2 per mile), home electricity and natural-gas use, and a diet type (high_meat, medium_meat/average, low_meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan), and computes an estimated annual CO2e footprint in kg and metric tons using EPA's typical-passenger-vehicle figure, EPA eGRID national grid-average intensity, an EPA natural-gas combustion factor, and a published UK dietary-footprint study (Scarborough et al. 2014) — with a category-by-category breakdown, percentage shares, and general reduction suggestions ranked toward the largest category. emission_factors_reference returns the full sourced table of every factor used, with citations. Every response carries a disclaimer field. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.
Sources: Computed locally / hand-curated, using published general emission-factor and energy assumptions (EPA typical-vehicle and eGRID grid-intensity figures, an EPA natural-gas combustion factor, and a published UK dietary-footprint study); fully local, zero upstream calls

CarbonFoot is a personal carbon-footprint estimator using published emission factors. It is an estimate
based on general averages, not a personalized or precise measurement, and not a certified carbon audit.
Your actual footprint depends on your specific vehicle, your local electric grid mix, the specific flights
you take, and your actual diet, all of which vary from the published averages used here. Every tool response
carries a disclaimer field restating this.
A rough, transparent answer to "what's my carbon footprint" — built from documented EPA and academic emission-factor sources rather than a black box, with every category broken out and every factor cited, and no upstream calls or data about the user stored.
carbon_footprint_calculator takes annual miles by vehicle type (gasoline, hybrid, electric — with an
overridable EV efficiency assumption), flight miles split into short-haul and long-haul (short flights emit
more CO2 per mile than long-haul cruise flights), home electricity and natural-gas use, and a diet type, and
computes an estimated annual CO2e footprint in kg and metric tons using documented published emission factors,
with a category-by-category breakdown, percentage shares, and general reduction suggestions ranked toward
your largest category. emission_factors_reference returns the full sourced table of every factor used, with
citations, so you can see exactly where each number comes from.
Not a certified carbon audit, not a personalized measurement of your actual emissions, and not a substitute for a utility-provided or third-party-verified carbon accounting service. It uses general published averages (an EPA typical-vehicle figure, an EPA national grid-average intensity figure, an EPA natural-gas combustion factor, and a published UK dietary-footprint study) rather than your specific vehicle's real efficiency, your utility's actual regional grid mix, or a food diary of what you actually ate. Treat the result as a rough, order-of-magnitude estimate for comparison and awareness, not a precise or certified number.

What CarbonFoot is. CarbonFoot is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a personal carbon-footprint calculator using published emission factors. CarbonFoot's figures are general published averages, not a personalized measurement or a certified carbon audit. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one calculation.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — for example annual miles by vehicle type, flight miles, home electricity or natural-gas usage, or a diet-type category — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered locally and nothing is stored. CarbonFoot makes zero upstream/network calls: every response is arithmetic computed directly from the arguments given and a bundled, published emission-factor reference table. No request is forwarded to any third party, and no query — including your diet-type selection or usage figures — is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. We do not know your address, your specific vehicle, your utility account, or anything else about your life beyond the bare numbers in a single request. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire emission-factor reference table and all calculations run locally with no external dependency. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. CarbonFoot is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
