What Coverletter is for

"Help me write a cover letter for this role", "what tone should I use", "turn this achievement into an opening paragraph", "how long should a cover letter be" — a structure-and-drafting toolkit that generates original cover-letter language from what you tell it about the role and your own strengths. It is not a resume analyzer: it never reads, scores, or gives feedback on an existing resume or cover letter — for that, use a resume-analysis connector.

What it does

outline_builder gives the section-by-section structure a cover letter should follow — opening, one or two body paragraphs, and a closing — with what each section should accomplish and a target length, in one of six tones. tone_guide describes each tone (formal, conversational, enthusiastic, direct, storytelling, analytical): its voice, what it's best suited for, and what to avoid. opening_paragraph, body_paragraph, and closing_paragraph each generate an original example paragraph in the chosen tone, built from a stated role, company, and one or more of your own strengths — not a generic filler paragraph. full_draft assembles all three into one complete three-paragraph example letter from a list of key strengths. common_mistakes covers pitfalls specific to cover letters (content, formatting, tone, strategy) — distinct from general resume mistakes. length_and_format_guide gives word-count targets and formatting norms (font matching, salutation, file naming). industry_tailoring_tips gives tailoring guidance across eight industries. follow_up_email drafts a follow-up email to send a stated number of days after applying.

How this differs from a resume-analysis connector

A resume-analysis toolkit (matching keywords against a job description, scoring bullet readability) analyzes a document you already have. Coverletter generates original structure and language from a role, company, and your own stated strengths — it never ingests or evaluates an existing resume or cover letter, and its paragraph generation, tone system, and full-draft assembly are unique to the cover-letter-writing job.

What it is not

Not a finished, ready-to-send letter generator. Every paragraph is an original template filled in with what you supply — read it, personalize every placeholder, fact-check every company-specific detail, and adapt the voice to sound like you before sending.
