Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
new_gamenew_gamemake_moveget_valid_movesai_moveanalyze_positionrender_boardrules_infoDot Boxes is a fully local, playable Dots and Boxes engine. new_game starts a game on a rows x cols grid of boxes. make_move draws a line and reports in_progress/win/loss/draw -- completing a box grants an extra turn. get_valid_moves lists every undrawn line annotated with how many boxes it would complete. render_board draws the grid as ASCII. ai_move computes and applies the AI's move: on 'optimal' difficulty it avoids handing over free boxes, picks the shortest chain to sacrifice when forced, and applies the double-cross rule at the tail of a long chain when other territory remains; 'easy' plays randomly. analyze_position exposes the same chain reasoning ai_move uses. rules_info explains the rules and core strategy. Stateless -- no server-side game storage, the caller passes state between calls. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.
Sources: Original implementation of classic Dots and Boxes rules and well-known chain/double-cross strategy concepts; fully local, zero upstream calls.
The publisher, Unify Dynamics LLC, states that tool inputs are processed in memory and not retained.

A fully local, PLAYABLE Dots and Boxes engine — grid setup, line-drawing move validation, box-completion scoring, extra turns, and a genuinely chain-aware AI opponent. Not a rules reference: an actual game you play move by move through your assistant.
new_game starts a game on a rows x cols grid of boxes. make_move draws one line for you and reports the
result — completing a box grants an extra turn. get_valid_moves lists every undrawn line, annotated with
how many boxes it would complete. render_board draws the grid as ASCII. ai_move computes and
applies the AI's move: it never hands over a free box when a safe move exists, sacrifices the shortest
chain when forced to open one, and applies the classic double-cross ("all-but-two") rule at the tail of a
long chain when other territory remains — a real, reasoned strategy, not a random or naive greedy one.
analyze_position exposes that same reasoning. rules_info explains how to play and the core strategy
ideas.
There is no server-side game storage. Every call takes the full game state (the exact object returned by
the previous call) and returns a new one. Your assistant holds onto state between calls — nothing is
remembered here.
Not a rules encyclopedia, and not a full game-theoretically-optimal engine — closed interior "loop" regions are treated like ordinary chains rather than using the more advanced all-but-four loop rule. On typical board sizes this heuristic plays very well and consistently beats naive or random play.

What Dot Boxes is. Dot Boxes is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to run a local Dots and Boxes game — starting a game, applying moves, and computing an AI opponent's replies.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — the game state you (via your assistant) pass back on every call, the line you're drawing, and the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one) — plus standard server logs.
Everything is computed locally and nothing is stored. Dot Boxes has no database and no server-side game storage of any kind. The entire game state — the grid, whose turn it is, scores, move history — lives only in your conversation with your assistant, which passes it back to us on each call and receives an updated copy in the response. We do not persist it, log it, or use it for anything beyond computing that one response. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your name, your conversation with the assistant beyond the bare game-state argument, or anything else about you. Each request is answered independently. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs (IP addresses and request paths, not request bodies) are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — computation is entirely local to this server. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Dot Boxes is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
