About

Fake Spotter is a fully local, hand-curated counterfeit-product red-flags guide. universal_red_flags covers cross-category tells (price, seller age, stock photos, listing wording, reviews). list_categories and category_red_flags cover electronics & accessories, apparel & shoes, handbags & accessories, cosmetics & beauty, toys & kids' products, and watches & jewelry, each with specific tells, a price-reality note, and a safety note where relevant. seller_listing_red_flags, packaging_inspection_checklist, verify_authenticity_resources, and report_counterfeit_guide round out the reference. price_reality_check and listing_risk_score are pure-compute helpers: one flags an unusual discount against typical retail, the other combines observed signals into a rough risk score. Educational only — never a determination about a specific item. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

Sources: Hand-curated from widely published counterfeit-detection guidance (consumer-protection agencies, brand anti-counterfeiting pages, authentication-service educational materials) as of build date; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Fake Spotter is for

"How do I spot fake AirPods?", "is $40 too cheap for these headphones if they're normally $200?", "what should I check on a designer bag before buying it used?", "I think I bought a counterfeit, what do I do now?" — a hand-curated guide to widely known counterfeit-product tells, framed as general education, not a determination about any specific item.

What it does

universal_red_flags covers tells that apply across almost any category (price, seller age, stock photos, listing wording, off-platform pressure, reviews). list_categories and category_red_flags cover six categories in depth — electronics & accessories, apparel & shoes, handbags & accessories, cosmetics & beauty, toys & kids' products, and watches & jewelry — each with its own common counterfeit targets, specific tells, a price-reality note, and a safety note where the category carries a real safety dimension (electronics, cosmetics, toys). seller_listing_red_flags explains marketplace signals worth checking before buying. packaging_inspection_checklist is what to physically check once an item arrives. verify_authenticity_resources lists general channels for actually confirming authenticity (brand serial lookups, authorized-retailer lists, third-party authentication services). report_counterfeit_guide covers where to report and seek a remedy. price_reality_check and listing_risk_score are the two pure-compute tools: the first flags how unusual a discount is against a typical retail price, and the second combines whatever signals you've observed into one rough composite risk read.

What it is not

This is education, not an authentication service. Nothing here inspects, tests, or examines a real item, and Fake Spotter never tells you that a specific product, listing, or seller is or is not counterfeit — it explains widely known general tells so you can judge for yourself, and points you toward real verification channels (the brand itself, an authorized retailer, or a professional authentication service) when the stakes call for certainty rather than a guess.

Privacy policy

Fake Spotter — Privacy Policy

Effective 25 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Fake Spotter is. Fake Spotter is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated guide to widely known counterfeit-product tells by category (electronics, apparel, handbags, cosmetics, toys, watches), seller/listing signals, an inspection checklist, and where to verify authenticity or report a counterfeit. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Fake Spotter is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Fake Spotter — Terms of Service

Effective 25 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Fake Spotter connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Fake Spotter returns a hand-curated guide to widely known counterfeit-product tells by category (electronics, apparel, handbags, cosmetics, toys, watches), seller/listing signals, an inspection checklist, and where to verify authenticity or report a counterfeit. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. General information, not an authentication or safety determination. Fake Spotter provides general, hand-curated reference information about widely known counterfeit tells. It does not inspect, test, or examine any specific item, and it never determines that a specific product, listing, or seller is or is not counterfeit. It is not product-safety testing, legal advice, or a substitute for a manufacturer's own authentication process or a qualified professional authenticator where the stakes warrant one.
  3. Reference, not guaranteed-current. Content reflects general, widely published practice as of the build date stated in the Service's own data. Some figures, dates or rules change over time and vary by brand, retailer or region — always verify anything decision-critical against a primary source.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
