Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods, wildfires and volcanoes — what's happening near any place
Unify Dynamics LLC
Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
earthquakesearthquakesignificant_earthquakestsunami_statementstropical_cyclonesdisaster_alertsnatural_eventsvolcano_reportnear_meHazard answers 'is anything dangerous happening near here' from primary sources. Earthquakes: USGS quakes near a place or worldwide with magnitude, depth, time-ago, distance and direction, PAGER impact colour, felt reports, shaking intensity and tsunami flag; one quake in depth with ShakeMap and origin quality; the significant-quakes list for the day, week or month. Tsunami: the latest messages from NOAA's Pacific and National centres with category, magnitude and bulletin link. Tropical cyclones: NHC's active storms with Saffir–Simpson category, winds in kt/mph/km/h, pressure, position, movement and advisory links. Disaster alerts: GDACS red/orange/green alerts for floods, cyclones, earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires and droughts worldwide, by hazard, country, recency and distance. Natural events: NASA EONET's open events — wildfires with acreage, severe storms, volcanoes, floods, sea ice, dust, temperature extremes — by category or near a place. Volcanoes: the Smithsonian/USGS weekly activity report with summaries per volcano. And near_me: all of it for one place, ranked by distance, with a one-line verdict. Keyless; nothing stored.
Sources: USGS, NOAA tsunami.gov and NHC, GDACS (EC JRC/UN OCHA), NASA EONET, Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program; GeoNames/Open-Meteo for place names; ReliefWeb optional

Earthquakes near a place or worldwide with magnitude, depth, PAGER impact colour, felt reports, shaking intensity and
tsunami flag; one quake in depth; USGS's significant-quakes list for the day, week or month. The latest tsunami
messages with category (information / watch / advisory / warning). Active tropical cyclones with Saffir–Simpson
category, winds, pressure, movement and advisory links. GDACS red/orange/green alerts for floods, cyclones,
earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires and droughts, filterable by hazard, country and recency and rankable by distance.
NASA-tracked wildfires, severe storms, volcanoes, floods, sea ice, dust and temperature extremes by category or near a
place. This week's volcanic activity. And near_me, which runs all of it for one place and summarises.
Hazard is not a warning system. It relays what agencies publish, with the delays and gaps that implies; local weather warnings, evacuation orders and civil-protection alerts are not in these feeds. NHC covers only the Atlantic and Eastern/Central Pacific (GDACS covers cyclones elsewhere); the tsunami feeds are the two U.S. centres. If a user may be in danger, the answer is to follow local authorities, not this connector.
earthquakes — Recent earthquakes near a place or worldwide (USGS): magnitude, location, depth, time with 'ago', distance and direction from the place, PAGER impact alert (green/yellow/orange/red), felt reports, estimated shaking intensity, and tsunami flag. Use for "earthquakes near Tokyo this week", "any big quakes today", "was there a quake in California just now". Args: place, latitude, longitude, radius_km, min_magnitude, days, max_results.
earthquake — One earthquake in detail (USGS): magnitude and type, depth, review status, PAGER alert and expected impact, shaking intensity (ShakeMap MMI), Did-You-Feel-It responses, origin quality, tsunami flag and links to the event page, ShakeMap and region info. Use after earthquakes when the user asks "tell me more about that one". Args: event_id.
significant_earthquakes — USGS's curated list of significant earthquakes for the past day, week or month — chosen for magnitude, felt reports and impact rather than size alone. Use for "what were the big earthquakes this week". Args: period.
tsunami_statements — Latest tsunami messages from NOAA's two warning centres — information statements, watches, advisories and warnings — with region, category, preliminary magnitude, issue time and bulletin link. A statement usually means 'no tsunami expected'; the category says which. Use for "is there a tsunami warning", "tsunami risk after that quake".
tropical_cyclones — Active tropical cyclones in the Atlantic, Eastern and Central Pacific from the National Hurricane Center: classification (depression/storm/hurricane), Saffir–Simpson category, sustained winds, pressure, position, movement, latest advisory and graphics links, watches/warnings. Use for "is there a hurricane right now", "where is Hurricane X heading".
disaster_alerts — Global disaster alerts from GDACS (EC Joint Research Centre / UN OCHA): floods, tropical cyclones, earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires and droughts with red/orange/green alert level, affected countries, dates, severity and report link. Use for "what disasters are active in Asia", "any red alerts", "floods in India right now". Args: alert_level, hazard, country, place, days, max_results.
natural_events — Natural events NASA is tracking from satellites (EONET): wildfires with acreage, severe storms, volcanoes, floods, icebergs and sea ice, dust and haze, temperature extremes — currently open, by category and/or near a place, with last-observed position and source links. Use for "wildfires near Los Angeles", "which volcanoes are active", "storms NASA is tracking". Args: category, place, latitude, longitude, radius_km, days, max_results.
volcano_report — The Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report: every volcano with notable activity this week, where it is, and a summary of eruptions, ash plumes, lava flows and alert levels. Use for "which volcanoes erupted this week", "what's Etna doing", "volcanic activity in Indonesia". Args: volcano.
humanitarian_disasters — Ongoing and alert-status disasters as tracked by UN OCHA's ReliefWeb (humanitarian view: type, countries, GLIDE number, status, links). Requires the operator to have configured a ReliefWeb appname; otherwise this tool says so and disaster_alerts (GDACS) is the alternative. Args: query, country.
near_me — Everything hazardous happening near a place right now, in one call: earthquakes M2.5+ in the last 7 days, GDACS alerts, NASA-tracked events (fires, storms, volcanoes, floods), tropical cyclones within 1,500 km, and any tsunami watch/warning — each with distance and direction, plus a one-line verdict. Use for "anything dangerous near Lisbon", "is my area affected by anything", "situation around Manila". Args: place, latitude, longitude, radius_km.

What Hazard is. Hazard is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for natural-hazard information: earthquakes, tsunami messages, tropical cyclones, disaster alerts, satellite-tracked natural events and volcanic activity. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the place name or coordinates and filters needed for the lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (a place name or coordinates, a radius, a hazard type, an event id), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Lookups are forwarded, not stored. A place name is resolved to coordinates with a bundled gazetteer, or by Open-Meteo's geocoder when it is not in the bundle. Coordinates are sent to USGS to find nearby earthquakes and to NASA EONET as a bounding box; the other feeds are fetched whole and filtered on our server, so those sources never see your location. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies, profiled or used to train anything. Successful upstream answers are cached in memory for minutes to hours, keyed by the query, to reduce load on the sources.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, accounts or credentials for any service, or your precise location beyond what the assistant sends for one lookup. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. USGS (earthquake catalogue; receives coordinates and radius), NASA EONET (receives a bounding box), NOAA tsunami.gov, NOAA NHC, GDACS (EC JRC), Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program (feeds fetched whole, no user data), Open-Meteo (place-name geocoding), and optionally ReliefWeb (UN OCHA; only if the operator has configured an appname). Each receives at most the query and our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Hazard is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
