55 real Hindi proverbs and sayings (लोकोक्तियाँ), each given in Devanagari script with a romanized
transliteration, a literal (word-for-word) meaning, a figurative (real-life) meaning, and an original usage
example sentence in Hindi and English (explain_saying, search_sayings); a saying of the day chosen
deterministically for any date, and a random saying on demand (saying_of_the_day, random_saying); sayings
grouped by life theme — perseverance and hope, greed and contentment, hypocrisy and appearances, caution and
trust, cause and effect, and more (sayings_by_theme, list_themes); a similarity tool that surfaces other
sayings teaching a related lesson (similar_sayings); and a glossary of Hindi-linguistics terms used
throughout — lokokti, kahawat, muhaavara, maatra, anusvaar (glossary).
Not a machine translator and not an exhaustive academic corpus of Hindi folklore — it's a curated set of 55 well-attested, widely-published sayings, verified against Hindi proverb collections rather than invented. It does not include modern literary quotations, song lyrics, or lines attributed to a named author — only traditional, communal proverbs that belong to no one person. Hindi is spoken across many faiths and regions of India, and nothing here frames any saying as belonging to a single community. Fully local, zero upstream calls, nothing stored.
saying_of_the_day — One Hindi saying, deterministically chosen for a given date (or today if omitted), so everyone calling on the same day gets the same saying. Use for "saying of the day", "today's Hindi proverb". Args: for_date.
random_saying — A randomly chosen Hindi saying, full detail included. Use for "give me a random Hindi proverb". Args: seed.
search_sayings — Keyword search across every saying's Devanagari text, transliteration, literal meaning, figurative meaning, theme and usage example. Use for "Hindi proverb about greed", "sayings similar to 'a bird in hand'". Args: query.
explain_saying — Full detail for one saying: Devanagari text, transliteration, literal (word-for-word) meaning, figurative (real-life) meaning, an original usage example sentence, and its theme. Use for "what does this Hindi proverb mean", "explain जहाँ चाह वहाँ राह". Args: saying.
similar_sayings — Other sayings that teach a related lesson — same theme, ranked by overlap in figurative meaning. Use for "what other Hindi proverbs mean something like this one". Args: saying, limit.
sayings_by_theme — Every saying filed under one life theme. Use list_themes to see valid theme names. Use for "list Hindi proverbs about hope", "sayings about hypocrisy". Args: theme.
list_themes — Every life theme covered, with how many sayings are filed under each (e.g. Perseverance & Hope, Hypocrisy & Appearances, Cause & Effect). Use for "what themes of Hindi proverbs do you have".
glossary — Definitions of Hindi linguistics/culture terms used throughout this reference — lokokti, kahawat, muhaavara, arth, bhaavaarth, Devanagari, maatra, anusvaar. Use for "what's the difference between a lokokti and a muhaavara", "what's a maatra". Args: term.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/hindisayings/support

What Hindi Sayings is. Hindi Sayings is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Hindi proverb reference: sayings, meanings, themes, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a saying, a keyword, a theme name, a date, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Hindi Sayings is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
