What India Presumptive Tax Calculator is for

Checks whether the presumptive scheme in section 58 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (the successor of sections 44AD, 44ADA and 44AE of the repealed 1961 Act, in force from 1 April 2026) fits a small business, professional or goods-carriage owner, and works out the deemed profit: 6% of turnover received by specified banking or online modes plus 8% of the rest for business (limit Rs 2 crore, Rs 3 crore if cash receipts do not exceed 5%), 50% of gross receipts for specified professions (Rs 50 lakh, Rs 75 lakh), and Rs 1,000 per ton or Rs 7,500 per vehicle per month for up to ten goods carriages. Rules were read from the Act text on the Income Tax Department site on 29 Sep 2026; what was not read (exclusion detail for professions, the list of specified professions, tax audit thresholds) is said so. General information only, never advice; nothing is filed.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "I am a resident individual with a small shop turning over Rs 1.8 crore, mostly by UPI: can I use presumptive taxation and what would the deemed profit be?"
  • "As a freelance consultant with Rs 40 lakh gross receipts, what profit is deemed under the presumptive scheme?"
  • "I own two 16-ton trucks and one pickup: what income is deemed for the year?"
  • "How close is my turnover of Rs 1.9 crore to the presumptive taxation limit, and does cash matter?"
  • "My real profit is lower than the presumptive profit: what does the law say happens?"
  • "When do I pay advance tax as a presumptive taxpayer and how much is left?"

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.
