This connector is a fully local reference of classic Indian folk tales — the fables and legends told for centuries across the subcontinent to teach children (and everyone else) about honesty, cleverness, greed, friendship, patience and a dozen other everyday virtues, gathered in one place with original, hand-written summaries instead of a scroll through a dozen retelling sites of uneven quality.
An original summary of a single story, its characters, its moral, and which traditional collection it comes
from (story_info); a keyword search across titles, characters and morals (story_search); every story from
one collection — Panchatantra, Jataka Tales, Akbar-Birbal, Tenali Rama, or Hitopadesha (stories_by_collection);
stories that teach a given theme like honesty, greed, friendship, cleverness, patience, unity, wisdom,
gratitude, humility, courage, compassion, trust, fairness, or foolishness (stories_by_moral); a random pick
good for a "story of the day" (random_story); background on recurring folk characters — Birbal, Tenali Rama,
Akbar and Krishnadevaraya in the tales' context, and animal archetypes like the jackal, lion, crow, tortoise,
brahmin, monkey and mongoose (character_info); brief background on each collection's own origin and purpose —
the Panchatantra as a text for teaching statecraft to princes, the Jataka Tales as Buddhist birth-stories, and
so on (collection_info); a glossary of the moral themes covered here, each with a one-line explanation
(moral_glossary); and age-appropriate story suggestions based on the simplicity and gentleness of a story's
content (story_for_age).
Not a verbatim reproduction of any single published translation. These are ancient, public-domain tales — centuries to millennia old — and every summary, character note, and collection background here is written fresh, in the publisher's own words, citing only the traditional story and character names and morals that are themselves part of the public-domain folklore. It is also not an exhaustive or scholarly critical edition: 46 hand-picked stories across five well-known collections, chosen for how widely they are told and how clear their lessons are, not a complete inventory of every tale in every tradition.

What Kahani (Story) is. Kahani (Story) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a fully local reference of classic Indian folk tales — story summaries, characters, morals, collection background, and a moral-theme glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a story title, a search keyword, a collection or character name, a moral theme, or an age group — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-written reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Kahani (Story) is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant; the
story_for_age tool is a content-suggestion aid, not a substitute for a parent's own judgment.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
